เครื่องอัดตะกอนแบบ ฟิวเตอร์เพรส (Filter press) เป็นเครื่องจักรที่เป็นที่ใช้งานกันอย่างแพร่หลายในอุตสาหกรรมหลาย ๆ ประเภท เช่น โรงงานชุปชิ้นโลหะ, โรงงานผลิตเซรามิค ฯลฯ เนื่องจากการออกแบบโครงสร้างที่ง่าย และมีความสามารถในการรีดน้ำออกจากตะกอนสูง ทำให้ได้ตะกอนที่มีความแห้งมาก และมีความชื้นต่ำ แต่มีข้อด้อยคือ ต้องใช้แรงงานคนในการควบคุมการทำงานเช่น การโหลดตะกอนเข้าไปในเพลท การแกะตะกอนออกจากเพลท และอาจไม่เหมาะกับงานที่มีตะกอนที่ต้องการกำจัดปริมาณมาก;ปัจจุบัน เครื่องอัดตะกอนแบบFilterpress มีระบบการดึงเพลทอัตโนมัติ(Auto plate shifting) เพื่อแก้ปัญหาการใช้แรงงานมาแกะแผ่นเพลท รวมทั้งมีถาดแบบเปิดปิดได้เองอัตโนมัติ(Auto drip tray) ทำให้ปัญหาเรื่องการใช้แรงงานลดน้อยลงไปมาก
